A headshot of Chris Lane taken at DEFCON 25.

My name is Christopher Allen Lane. I’m a software engineer with expertise in full-stack web development, systems programming, and webapp pentesting. I have also taught in both the private and public sectors.

I've been programming professionally since 2006, and non-professionally since long before then. During that time I've worked with many languages, but now mostly prefer Node and Go. I'm also skilled with PHP, and became a Zend Certified Engineer in 2009. I have used Linux exclusively since approximately 2009, and hold a professional certification in AWS.

I'm passionate about open-source, and like to think that I have a knack for building tools that people find useful, including several niche security tools. (I joke that I am a software "combat engineer" given my experience writing webapp pentesting and auditing tools.) I've had the honor of leading other talented open-source developers as communities formed around some of my popular projects.

I consider myself a "maker", and like to work on non-software (or even non-techncal) projects when I have the time. I've recently had some successes with CNC milling, working with leather and Kydex (a thermoplastic), and in building an arcade cabinet. (I need to do a better job of documenting those projects here.)

I do indepedent consulting full-time. If you're interested in discussing a contract, feel free to reach out to me via any of the methods listed below.
